PROBLEM: Most consumer insight platforms focus on measuring the volume of reactions and actions. Left alone, this only gets to basic demographics of the fan, what the fan is doing and where the action is happening.
OPPORTUNITY: What’s missing is identifying WHY the fan is engaged?
Fanalytica is an actionable consumer insights platform that offers a solution to that question through natural language processing and establishing a high accuracy* deep learning model.
Though the deep learning model can be trained on additional fan behaviors, currently it is trained with the Leveraging Engagement framework (see Strategy + Business, Fan Favorites). At the core of this framework are certain fan motivations, which describe the various ways fans approach their objects of fanship and the goals that drive their behaviors. This identifies fan behavior in a way that is easy to grasp and make actionable. Our framework helps brands more fully understand the behaviors of why fans engage and thus how to better foster relationships with fans and understand their value.
Fanalytica can ingest any structured data, from the obvious social media (Facebook, Twitter and Reddit), to the less obvious; specific fan sites, blogs and an open text system for transcribed interviews and open survey responses. Fanalytica’s deep learning model is currently at a 72% accuracy rate based on training the model with five scientific fan behavior studies* in the entertainment, sports and music domains while incubated at USC’s Annenberg Innovation Lab.
By using the Fanalytica dashboard, media creators, brand / digital strategists, and researchers can gain insight into how a given media property might appeal to and retain fans, how we might help facilitate the shift by which a fan goes from merely being entertained to being more deeply invested, and how it could be possible to inspire fans to extend their interest from a core passion into other, related materials and communities.
